2014
The year Till decided to leave Germany to start life in Singapore, he had no idea what his skills meant in an urban City state. It was not easy to find work that could fully optimise his skills, so we decided to set up +49 Woodcraft, a play on his home country code.
Despite having not much with him, we managed our first major project in the form of a Burmese teak spiral staircase within a shophouse, painstakingly handcrafted. This first project opened doors to more and we persevered on thanks to the power of the local community and word of mouth. We grew from a 400sq ft work space to our current workshop. From furniture crafting, we now also work on Design & Build projects.
Our work ethics is simple. We focus on our strengths, continue to work professionally with all clients, pay attentive to their needs, provide ideas, educate on technical aspects of carpentry and use quality materials for all our works.
As we work towards more milestone projects and meeting many wonderful clients in Asia, our hope is also to revive the art of carpentry craftsmanship.
